Christmas Message from Fr. Moore

Published on December 21, 2022

We see Christmas as a time of peace and joy, a time to celebrate.

Such joyful celebrations may not be possible for some. You may have lost a loved one since last Christmas, or you may be overburdened by money worries, family problems or for many other reasons.

We want to assure you that, as a parish community, we do care and offer you our support.

Maybe the Christmas message this year is not so much a question of giving more; it is a question of giving more of ourselves. After all, that’s what God was doing when he got involved with us at the first Christmas.

Remember to put Christ back into Christmas! May you be blessed with peace and joy at Christmas and in the New Year.

A Remembrance Mass for the late Bishop Martin Drennan will be held in Piltown Church at 7 p.m. on Tuesday 20th December.

Templeorum Mass Times from 1st January 2023

We have only three priests to cover the seven churches in the pastoral area and if two of
the priests are unavailable any weekday or weekend we need a realistic schedule that one
priest can fulfil in such an emergency. The Pastoral Area Committee has discussed the issue and the matter has been agreed with individual Parish Liturgical Committees.
In the event of there being only one priest available across the three parishes, the following Mass arrangements will apply:
Weekends
Piltown = Saturday 6pm
Mooncoin = Sunday 11:15am
Kilmacow = Sunday 9:30am
Weekdays
Piltown = Thursday 10am
Mooncoin = Friday 10am
Kilmacow = Wednesday 10am
Fr. Moore wishes to thank all volunteers and helpers for their work during the year, to thank all parishioners for their continued support and to wish everyone a Happy, Holy Christmas and best wishes for 2023.

Giving Tree

In conjunction with Piltown National School food drive there will be a Giving Tree in each of the churches for collecting non-perishable items, toiletries for example, for the homeless. Please leave your contribution at the Giving Tree.

Food Distribution

Our food distribution scheme which is administered through the Community Centre, has been a welcome success and many local families continue to avail of it. Congratulations to our contributors and distributors.

Carol Service

The Carol Service which took place on The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, was a great success and an enjoyable occasion for all attending. Invitations were extended to Kilmacow and Mooncoin parishes and their choirs.

Congratulations to the members of our own local choirs and especially the Piltown Choral Group. Thanks also to the visiting soloists Caroline Reid O’Brien, Noel Slattery, Lance O’Brien and his Lady of Lourdes Choir from Goresbridge.

Ministers of the Eucharist

Ministers of the Eucharist will be visiting homes on the run up to Christmas so please inform the Sacristy or the Parish Office if you want to arrange a visit for yourself or another.
